About the Project
UPDATE: As of 10/9/2026, Major Construction is COMPLETE. You may still see minor crew activity in the area over the next few week completing punch-list items and general restoration and cleanup. Centennial Road is fully reopened.
The Centennial Road Widening Project near Egbert Road is expected to take place from Early August through Late November. During construction, crews will complete the project in two phases, with one side of the roadway under construction at a time.
In response to community feedback, starting during the day on Friday, September 4, Centennial Road through the project area will be open to Southbound traffic only through the remainder of the project. Northbound traffic on Centennial Road will need to follow the detour route. Automated stop lights will be removed, and the intersection at Centennial Road/Egbert Road will remain a 3-way stop throughout the project duration.
Detour routes are available as an alternate option for those who prefer to avoid the construction area.
Road Access During Construction
Starting Friday, September 4, Centennial Road will be open to Southbound traffic only. Northbound traffic should follow posted detour routes. This traffic configuration is expected to be maintained throughout the duration of the project.

Phase 1: East Side Construction
August Through Mid-September
During Phase 1, crews will construct the east side of Centennial Road. Starting Friday, September 4, Centennial Road will be open to Southbound traffic only. Northbound traffic will need to follow posted detour routes.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the area.
Phase 2: West Side Construction
Mid-September Through Late November
During Phase 2, crews will shift construction to the west side of Centennial Road. Traffic will continue to be Southbound only on Centennial Road. Northbound traffic will need to follow posted detour routes.

Weekly Update - 10/9
MAJOR CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE!
We have reached the finish line! Permanent roadway signage is being installed, officially marking the completion of all major construction on Centennial Road.
- Roadways Fully Reopened: Two-way traffic has been completely restored, and all temporary traffic controls and barrels have been removed.
- Permanent Signs Installed: Final signs and street markers are going up to finalize the new corridor layout.
FINAL TOUCH-UPS
While the major work is complete and traffic is back to normal, you may still see minor crew activity in the area over the next few weeks.
- Ongoing Punch-List Items: Crews will complete final quality inspections, minor concrete adjustments, and finishing details.
- Restoration & Clean-Up: Crews will continue general restoration and cleanup along the Centennial Road project corridor.

Weekly Update - 10/2
FINISH LINE: STRIPING & FINAL BARREL REMOVAL NEXT WEEK
Centennial Road is open to full two-way traffic, and crews will complete the remaining major roadwork early next week.
- Brief Delays & Short Closures (Tuesday, October 6): Crews will paint the final pavement markings across the entire roadway on Tuesday. Please plan for short, temporary road closures while striping takes place.
- Barrels Coming Down: All remaining construction barrels and temporary traffic control will be removed on Tuesday following striping.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Crews will be working through the following steps over the next week:
- Friday, October 2: Detour signage will be taken down, and crews will construct stone shoulders along the road. Construction barrels will remain in place through the weekend.
- Monday, October 5: Crews will measure and lay out lines in preparation for road striping.
- Tuesday, October 6: Final striping across the full roadway may cause brief temporary closures. Then, the remaining construction barrels and traffic controls will be removed.
All construction activities are weather dependent - any changes will be communicated in next week's update.
LOOKING AHEAD: FINAL WRAP-UP
Once striping and barrel removal wrap up on Tuesday, major construction will be complete! Over the next few weeks, crews will work on minor yard restoration touch-ups and finish remaining punch-list items. Permanent roadway signs will be installed later in October.

Weekly Update - 9/25
IMPORTANT TRAFFIC UPDATE
Centennial Road is scheduled to reopen to full two-way traffic at the end of the day on Monday, September 28.
- Two-Way Pattern Returns: Both northbound and southbound drivers will be able to use Centennial Road again at the end of the day on Monday, September 28. The northbound detour will no longer be required.
- Temporary Centerline (Barrels): Until permanent lane lines are painted, construction barrels will be placed down the middle of the road to serve as a temporary centerline. Please drive with caution as this is still an active construction site.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Crews will be working through the following steps over the next week:
- Friday, September 25: Crews will restore impacted yard areas and install new stone shoulders along the west side of the road.
- Saturday, September 26: Crews will be surfacing residential driveway approaches.
- Monday, September 28: Crews will be applying the final top surface of asphalt across the entire roadway. At the end of the day, Centennial Road will officially reopen to two-way traffic with temporary barrel centerlines in place.
This project is nearing completion (several weeks ahead of schedule). Thank you to everyone for your patience as we have worked to improve the road through this area.

LOOKING AHEAD: STRIPING & PERMANENT SIGNAGE

Weekly Update - 9/18
IMPORTANT RESIDENTIAL PARKING & TRAFFIC NOTICES
- Driveway Access & Temporary Parking (Friday, September 18): Crews will be cutting out driveway approaches today. If your driveway is being worked on, you may need to briefly park alongside the road inside the construction barrels while this occurs. This will be temporary, and the work will be completed by the end of the day.
- Flaggers & Alternating Traffic (Thursday, September 24 - Friday, September 26): Later next week, crews will apply the final asphalt surface across the entire roadway. Traffic control will switch to flaggers directing alternating single-lane traffic during this work. Please plan for brief delays.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Crews will be working through the following steps over the next week:
- Friday, September 18: Crews will be backfilling soil behind the new curbs on the west side, fine grading, and cutting out residential driveway approaches (if you are a resident, please see the parking notice above).
- Monday, September 21: Crews will be paving intermediate asphalt layers on the west lane.
- Tuesday, September 22: Crews will be paving new driveway approaches.
- Wednesday, September 23: Crews will be performing restoration work along the west side of the road and impacted yard areas.
- Thursday, September 24 - Friday, September 25: Crews will be performing final surface paving across the entire roadway, and flaggers will be guiding traffic.

TRAFFIC PATTERN REMINDER
Centennial Road has transitioned to the one-way southbound pattern.
- Southbound Drivers: Traffic continues to flow freely through the construction zone.
- Northbound Drivers: You must continue following the northbound detour routes.
- Centennial Road & Egbert Road Intersection: The intersection will remain a temporary 3-way stop for the remainder of construction. It will permanently return to a 4-way stop when construction ends in late November.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Work is underway on the west side of Centennial Road. Crews will be working through the following steps over the next week:
- Saturday, September 12: Crews will perform cement stabilization (strengthening the ground base) for the west lane and the Arnold Drive approach.
- Wednesday, September 16: Crews will be installing the foundational base layer of asphalt on the west lane.
- Thursday, September 17 - Friday, September 18: Crews will be constructing the new concrete curbs along the west side.

Weekly Update - 9/4
UPCOMING TRAFFIC CHANGE & DETOURS
The temporary signals will be removed and the new traffic pattern will go live today, September 4, at approximately 12:00 PM (noon). This will transition Centennial Road to a one-way southbound pattern for the remainder of the project.
- Southbound Drivers: Traffic will flow freely from north to south through the corridor. You will no longer need to take detour routes.
- Northbound Drivers: You must continue following the northbound detour routes.
- Centennial Road & Egbert Road Intersection: Signals will be removed today, September 4, and the intersection will operate as a temporary 3-way stop for the remainder of construction. It will permanently return to a 4-way stop when construction ends in late November.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Crews are wrapping up work on the east side of Centennial Road and preparing to shift traffic so work can begin on the west lane.
- Friday, September 4: Signal lights come down and the one-way southbound traffic pattern takes effect. Crews will also be potholing (digging small test holes) along the west side of the road to verify utility locations.
- Monday, September 7: No work in observance of Labor Day.
- Tuesday, September 8 - Thursday, September 10: Crews will begin ground grading work and installing storm sewer pipe on the west side.
- Friday, September 11 - Saturday, September 12: Crews will perform cement stabilization (strengthening the ground base) for the west lane and the Arnold Drive approach.

RESIDENTIAL & DRIVEWAY ACCESS
- Driveway Access: Crews are placing temporary stone "bridges" between residential driveways and the new east travel lane so residents maintain full access to their homes.
- Driveway Signs: One-way signs will be placed at the end of driveways to remind residents turning onto Centennial Road of the new southbound-only traffic flow.

Based on extensive community feedback and consultation with traffic engineers and safety experts, beginning next Friday, September 4th, we will be eliminating the temporary signal lights and transitioning Centennial Road to a one-way southbound pattern for the remainder of the project.
- Southbound Drivers: Traffic will flow freely from north to south through the corridor. You will no longer need to take detour routes.
- Northbound Drivers: You must continue following the northbound detour routes.
- Centennial Road & Egbert Road Intersection: Signals will be removed on Friday, September 4, and the intersection will operate as a temporary 3-way stop for the remainder of construction. It will permanently return to a 4-way stop when construction ends in late November.

Weekly Update - 8/21
TEMPORARY SIGNAL TIMING
Driveway devices and temporary signals are currently active. In response to community feedback regarding extended wait times, we have updated the light timing so that wait times should be approximately 3-5 minutes for the complete cycle.
Crews will continue monitoring the signal and make additional adjustments if needed. Drivers should follow the temporary signals as directed and should not treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Phase 1 (East Side of Centennial Road)
We continue to make progress on construction on the East Side of Centennial Road.
Next week's work includes base asphalt and curbs.
- Base asphalt will be installed on Tuesday, August 25 & Wednesday, August 26.
- Curb construction is expected to occur on Thursday, August 27 & Friday, August 28.
- Temporary signals will remain in place throughout the completion of both Phase 1 & Phase 2.

INTERSTATE 69 ACCESS
We have received some feedback from the community that the temporary signals are causing increased wait times for commuters accessing I-69 via the Henderson Ford Road Exit. Access to I-69 at Henderson Ford Road will remain open, but we understand that the traffic control devices at Egbert Rd/Centennial Rd can cause additional commute times.
We encourage all drivers accessing I-69 to use the SR-44 Exit via Centennial Road south to SR-44 west (from the south end of the project) or Egbert Road/Morgan Street south to Reuben Drive east (from the north end of the project). Please see the updated detour map on the project website for routes.
Weekly Update - 8/14
SIGNALS
Driveway devices and temporary signals were set up and tested on Thursday, August 13 to ensure everything was functioning properly. The signals will remain in place and will either be flashing red or turned off until the morning of Monday, August 17, when they become active. Starting on Monday, August 17, mailboxes in the work zone will be temporarily removed, secured in 5-gallon buckets, and relocated to the following areas:
- Homes between Egbert Road and Arnold Avenue: Placed on the north side of Arnold Avenue, next to the closure barricades.
- Addresses 3300 and 3260: Placed on the east side of the road near the temporary signal (per the Postmaster).
TRASH
Beginning on Monday, August 17, residents between Egbert Road and Arnold Avenue utilizing Jack's Trash Service will have their trash bins moved by the construction team to the designated trash pickup location on Arnold Avenue (on the north side of the road at the closure barricades). Once trash is picked up, the construction team will move the empty trash bins back to residents' driveways. Residents should plan to have their trash bins taken out to the end of their driveways by the normal time. Residents utilizing Waste Management will have trash service continue as normal and should ensure their trash bins are placed at the end of their driveway.
ROAD WORK
Milling along the east lane will begin the morning of Monday, August 17. Crews will grade subgrade after the milling is complete, then they will install storm sewer drains throughout the middle of the week.
Concrete stabilization is planned for Friday, August 21.
